Prolonged heavy rain has caused landslides of soil and rocks at many points on National Highway 12 and National Highway 279, causing traffic through these areas to be paralyzed. Functional forces are urgently overcoming the incident, diverting traffic and supporting people.
On July 16, information from the Traffic Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police, at Km76+300 on National Highway 12, in Le Loi commune, prolonged heavy rain caused landslides of soil and rocks, causing the road to be completely blocked.
Currently, a section of the national highway surface has been completely landslide, and vehicles cannot pass through this area.

Immediately after the incident occurred, Road Traffic Police Team No. 4 was present at the scene, coordinating with local authorities and road management units to organize traffic diversion, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
Functional forces also support people to transport luggage and goods through the landslide area to reduce difficulties in travel.

At the same time, at Km359 on National Highway 279, the section passing through Sap Ngua village, Muong Than commune, landslides of soil and rock also caused the road to be completely cut off. Up to now, functional agencies have not determined when traffic can resume.
Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 has coordinated with Muong Than Commune Police and Road Board 2 to mobilize forces and vehicles to the scene to clear landslide soil and rocks, and at the same time organize traffic diversion and regulation to ensure safety.
Faced with the continuation of heavy rain, functional forces recommend that people temporarily do not travel through landslide areas on National Highway 12 and National Highway 279 until further notice; proactively monitor weather information, choose appropriate routes or postpone travel if not really necessary.
Traffic participants are advised to follow the instructions of functional forces, reduce speed when traveling on mountainous roads, maintain a safe distance and do not stop or park in areas at risk of landslides to prevent accidents.

Currently, functional units are continuing to deploy remedial work, and will update information when roads are reopened to traffic.
