On the morning of January 2, Tan Son Nhat Traffic Police Team, Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police set up checkpoints, inspected and handled violations of the Road Traffic Law at the intersection of Cong Hoa - Ut Tich (Tan Binh District).
During the time of setting up the checkpoint, the Team focuses on handling violations such as: not obeying traffic lights, driving in the wrong direction, driving on the sidewalk... These are violations with increased administrative penalties according to Decree 168.
At around 9:00 a.m., the traffic police discovered Mr. H.M.T (born in 1995) driving on the sidewalk, so they stopped the vehicle for inspection and issued an administrative fine.
According to Decree 168, for this violation, Mr. T will be fined 4-6 million VND (previously the fine was 400,000-600,000 VND), and have 2 points deducted from his driver's license.
When the traffic police announced the fine according to the new regulations, Mr. T was surprised. Mr. T said that he had not known that the new fine was so high.
"This fine is equivalent to half of my monthly income. After today, I will be more careful and not dare to violate it again," said Mr. T.
