The Government issued Decision No. 19/2024/QD-TTg stipulating the roadmap for applying emission standards to imported, manufactured and assembled motor vehicles.
Accordingly, the official roadmap for emission testing of motor vehicles, including motorbikes, is as follows:
Roadmap for applying emission standards to newly imported, manufactured and assembled motor vehicles:
New imported and manufactured and assembled cars will continue to apply level 5 emission standards from January 1, 2025.
Newly imported and manufactured and assembled two-wheeled motorbikes (motorbikes) will continue to apply this level 2 emission standard from January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027.
Newly imported and manufactured and assembled two-wheeled motorcycles continue to apply level 3 emission standards from January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
Newly imported and manufactured and assembled two-wheeled motorbikes (motorbikes) shall apply level 4 emission standards from July 1, 2027.
Newly imported and manufactured and assembled two-wheeled motorcycles must comply with level 4 emission standards from July 1, 2026.
Newly imported, manufactured and assembled four-wheeled motor vehicles and four-wheeled motor cargo vehicles shall apply the emission standard of “0” from January 1, 2026.
Newly imported and manufactured three-wheeled motorbikes and three-wheeled motorbikes shall apply the emission standard of "0" from January 1, 2026.
The roadmap for applying emission standards to imported used motor vehicles is as follows:
Used imported cars shall apply level 4 emission standards specified in Clause 2, Article 3 of this Decision from January 1, 2025.
Used imported four-wheeled motor vehicles and four-wheeled motor vehicles shall be subject to the “0” emission standard from January 1, 2026.
