Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has just issued a decision to reclaim more than 1 million m2 of land leased to Loc Bac Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. (Loc Bac Forestry Company). The reason is that this company violates the Land Law.
The area to be reclaimed belongs to sub-area 431, Loc Bac commune (Bao Lam district). The competent authority requires Loc Bac Forestry Company to comply with the decision to reclaim land, organize the handover of land and related documents according to regulations.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned Loc Bac Commune People's Committee to receive and manage the above-mentioned recovered land area. It is known that the above 1 million m2 of land was leased by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to Loc Bac Forestry Company in 2011.
As for Loc Bac Forestry Company, in November 2024, this company allowed a large-scale deforestation case to occur.
Accordingly, Pham Van Chung (41 years old, an employee of Loc Bac Forestry Company) and K'Thang (34 years old), K'Thuc (36 years old), Kieu Van Nguyen (48 years old) cut down 5 Kien Kien trees and 1 impacted wood to sell.
Among the trees that were cut down was a 30m high tree with a trunk diameter of 1.3m. The deforestation caused damage to about 25 m3 of wood.
On November 8, 2024, Lam Dong Police arrested Chung and the above 3 people to investigate illegal logging.
