On the afternoon of May 29, the Workshop "Green Transformation in Agriculture: From Technology to Market" was officially held in Can Tho City.
The Mekong Delta (Mekong Delta) is the largest key agricultural production region in the country, playing a key role in ensuring national food security and exports when contributing about 50% of rice production and over 90% of rice exports, contributing 31.37% of the GDP of the entire agricultural sector.
However, the region is facing serious challenges from climate change (salin intrusion, drought, land subsidence), increased input costs, along with fragmented production, chemical abuse that reduces added value and makes it difficult to meet the strict standards of the market.

The workshop aims to create a forum for exchange, multi-dimensional, and substantive connection of models between management agencies, scientists/researchers and production and business units; promote agricultural economic thinking; shape strategic steps from research and application of modern technology to approaching and expanding markets, positioning green agricultural product brands, and effectively adapting to global sustainable development trends.
Along with that is to help enhance the position of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international arena in the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on innovation and digital transformation of the country into life.
Speaking at the Workshop, Mr. Le Cong Ly, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee informed that to successfully transform green, it is necessary to build a sustainable linked ecosystem between "4 houses": State - Scientists - Businesses - Farmers.
In which, the State plays a constructive role, scientists provide knowledge and technology, businesses lead the market, and farmers are the center of the transformation process. Without a link, the green value chain will not be able to be completely formed.

Mr. Ly informed that Can Tho City always identifies science and technology, innovation, high-tech agriculture, circular economy and deep processing as strategic orientations in agricultural development in the coming time.
With the role of the center of the Mekong Delta region, Can Tho not only wants to develop for itself, but also wants to become a center connecting science and technology, logistics, processing and market for the whole region.

On that basis, the Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee said that Can Tho is committed to continuing to improve the investment environment, promote innovation, support businesses to apply high technology, promote regional linkages and expand the consumption market for green and clean agricultural products.
