Lang Son - Four locations for building glass bridges across the Ky Cung River are being studied to create landscape highlights, connect pedestrian streets, relics and develop the night economy.

On September 3, Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Canh Toan, along with leaders of departments and branches, surveyed the planned locations for building glass bridges across the Ky Cung River.

According to the Department of Construction, four options are proposed after considering terrain, landscape, river cross-section, connecting infrastructure, accessibility and parking lot arrangement.

In which, option 4 is assessed to have many advantages. This location is about 400 m upstream of Dong Kinh bridge, about 120 m downstream of Cua Nam bridge under construction. The riverbed here is about 75 m wide.

The area planned for bridge construction is located near pedestrian streets and cultural and spiritual relics, with the potential to connect into a chain of attractions in the city center. The project is expected to become a new tourism product, exploiting riverside space, promoting services and the night economy.

According to specialized agencies, this location also helps disperse the number of visitors, reducing pressure on the infrastructure of the central area during festivals and peak hours.

After the survey, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh requested the Department of Construction to continue to compare the advantages and disadvantages of the four options; carefully assess natural conditions, landscape, urban space and related factors before proposing investment locations.

The design plan must ensure safety, feasibility and harmony with the landscape of the Ky Cung River.

Specialized agencies are also assigned to study synchronizing glass bridges with traffic, parking lots, pedestrian streets and adjacent architectural works, thereby forming a new highlight for the center of Lang Son.

The project is currently only in the survey and location research phase; the scale, total capital and implementation time have not been announced.
