An Giang - The province requests to cut 30% of procedures and 30% of implementation time, not allowing prolonged backlogs to affect growth targets.

On March 10, in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province, a conference was held to implement the scenario of economic growth in region II (industry - construction) and region III (services) in 2026, which are two important sectors in the province's economic structure.

An Giang's economic growth scenario (GRDP) for 2026 sets a target of reaching 10.71% (striving for over 11%) in 2026, of which region II 22.49%, region III 11.36%. The province promotes economic restructuring associated with economic development model innovation, industrialization, modernization taking science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main driving forces. The province focuses maximum resources on investment, gradually completing infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure and seaports to promote tourism, trade and service development, strengthen economic exchange, and promote regional linkages.

According to the An Giang Department of Industry and Trade, with the goal of innovating the industrial growth model, restructuring the internal industry, increasing the value of the industry, creating a breakthrough in growth for sector II, and increasing the proportion of industry contribution to the province's GRDP. Accordingly, the value of industrial production in 2026 is more than 134,000 billion VND, the growth rate of industrial production value reaches 13.84%; total retail sales of goods and service revenue is more than 385,000 billion VND; export turnover of goods reaches 2,753 million USD.

The Department of Construction deploys the preparation and approval of general urban and rural planning in the province in the period 2025 - 2026 to ensure synchronization with the provincial planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. Building and rapidly developing dynamic urban areas including: Long Xuyen, Chau Doc, Rach Gia, Phu Quoc, Ha Tien, Kien Luong, An Bien, Giong Rieng.

The province focuses on developing technical and urban infrastructure, regional connectivity transport projects, and projects serving marine economic and tourism development. The number of key projects under construction is 23 projects (including 8 APEC projects), with a total medium-term investment of 70,000 billion VND, of which the capital plan for 2026 is 19,000 billion VND (APEC project 11,000 billion VND).

The Department of Tourism effectively implements tourism stimulus programs, striving for a total number of tourists in 2026 to reach 26 million visitors, tourism revenue of 72 trillion VND. Implementing the Project "Building Phu Quoc into a high-quality service and eco-tourism center, national and international-scale sea and island tourism" (after being approved by the Prime Minister).

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that the growth targets of region II and III are not just numbers, but the most important thing is to contribute to local socio-economic development, improve people's lives and the development of businesses. Therefore, the province requests departments, branches, and localities to clearly grasp the current situation of industry, construction and services to have strong enough solutions to achieve goals and plans. Cut 30% of procedures and 30% of implementation time, focus on promoting the spirit of responsibility in handling dossiers and procedures, not allowing prolonged backlogs to affect growth targets. At the same time, encourage businesses to set high growth targets to contribute to the province's achievement of the 2026 growth target.

Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung requested departments, branches and localities to urgently implement provincial planning, complete the adjustment and establishment of sectoral and local planning no later than May 2026. In disbursing public investment capital, by June 2026, units that cannot disburse will be criticized, reviewed and transferred capital to other projects; prioritize allocating capital to invest in technical infrastructure to serve growth for three economic sectors. Implement synchronously solutions to ensure the progress of key projects, projects serving APEC 2027 and construction projects in localities.

Focus on attracting investment in industrial parks and clusters, forming logistics centers and free trade zones in the area. At the same time, promote foreign trade promotion activities that must be substantive and effective, especially focusing on potential markets such as Halal, UAE, Turkey and high-profile diplomatic channels. Apply science and technology to build smart border gates in Ha Tien, Tinh Bien, Vinh Xuong and Khanh Binh, in order to reduce time and costs for businesses; promote border trade and trade across Cambodian borders.
