On July 21, a working group of the Ministry of Construction led by Minister Tran Hong Minh conducted a field inspection of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project in Lao Cai province.
At the inspection, the working group inspected the site at the new Lao Cai Station (Lao Cai Ward), where it is expected to start construction of resettlement areas to serve the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project.
The investor and the provincial authorities and functional units have reported on the project implementation progress, site clearance, resettlement arrangements as well as difficulties and problems that need to be resolved.
Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Railway Project Management Board to hand over the route documents, determine the scale of resettlement, count and count affected households. The whole province plans to build 45 resettlement areas, allocated to 1,766 households; in the North, there are 19 areas, in the South, there are 26 areas with a total construction cost of 635 billion VND.
The province is also relocating 104 production facilities within the affected area, including 41 projects in Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park and 63 projects in Dong Pho Moi Industrial Cluster, Son Man - Van Hoa.
Currently, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province has approved 4 projects to relocate these facilities with a total capital of nearly 1,000 billion VND.
Lao Cai province aims to start construction of the new Lao Cai Station on December 19, 2025, after completing site clearance and relocating all facilities in the Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park.
Through the inspection, Minister Tran Hong Minh highly appreciated the proactiveness and positivity of Lao Cai province in coordinating the implementation of preparations for the implementation of this important railway project.
The Minister of Construction suggested that Lao Cai province continue to closely follow the progress, speed up site clearance, create high consensus with people in resettlement arrangements; complete resettlement documents and closely coordinate with the Ministry of Construction and functional units to ensure sufficient conditions to start construction on schedule.
The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway construction investment project has a total length of 390.9 km, the section passing through Lao Cai province is 143.29 km long ( starting point at the rail connection point with China, ending point is Au Lau ward, Lao Cai province).
The route has 18 stations (3 train stations, 15 mixed stations) and 13 technical work stations; of which, in Lao Cai province, there are 4 stations and 5 technical work stations. The total investment of the project is 203,231 billion VND.
