Investment environment continues to improve
In mid-July 2026, Lao Cai will organize the 2026 Investment Promotion Conference with the theme "Lao Cai - Connecting Development - Green and Sustainable".
In the context of the province entering its first year after the merger, the event not only aims to introduce potentials and advantages but also sends a message about the determination to improve the investment environment and accompany businesses.

At the meeting to review the preparation work, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh requested to innovate investment promotion thinking in the direction of putting businesses and investors at the center.
Accordingly, the conference must become a place to connect, dialogue and solve practical problems of businesses, instead of just stopping at promotional activities.

In the first months of 2026, Lao Cai continues to promote administrative procedure reform, review slow-progress projects, publicize investment dossier processes and enhance transparency in management activities.
As a result, in the first 6 months of the year, the province approved investment policies for 18 projects, with a total registered capital of about 5,500 billion VND, focusing on industry, trade, services, infrastructure and urban development.

Accumulated to date, Lao Cai has 1,446 valid domestic investment projects with a total registered capital of more than 294,320 billion VND. In addition, 68 FDI projects are operating with a total registered capital of more than 753 million USD, mainly in the fields of mining, processing, tourism, services and agriculture - forestry.
According to the province's assessment, capital flows continue to be maintained thanks to the advantages of border gates, logistics, and transport infrastructure being gradually completed along with changes in administrative reform and the government's companionship with investors.
Continue to cut administrative procedures
Not only attracting investment, the business community in the area also recorded many positive signs.
In the first half of the year, Lao Cai had 930 newly established enterprises and 500 affiliated units registered to operate, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year. The total registered capital of new enterprises reached about 7,500 billion VND.

Notably, 300 businesses have resumed operations after a period of suspension, showing that the confidence of the production and business sector is gradually being restored.
Currently, the whole province has more than 13,380 registered enterprises with a total charter capital of about 174,000 billion VND, of which over 7,500 enterprises are actually operating.
These results come from promoting business registration in the digital environment, shortening the processing time of dossiers, and at the same time strengthening support for businesses in accessing land, investment, construction, credit, taxes and customs.

At the Conference to evaluate the results of task implementation in the first 6 months of the year and directions for tasks in the last 6 months of 2026 organized by the Standing Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee on July 6, Mr. Duong Quoc Huy - Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee assigned the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee to continue to cut administrative procedures and deploy the "green channel" mechanism in resolving investment procedures.

Regarding the proposal to develop a Resolution on the development of Sa Pa National Tourist Area in the period 2026 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee agreed on the policy.
At the same time, it is requested to continue to improve in the direction of building the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, ensuring strategicity, feasibility, associated with the goal of developing Sa Pa according to the "green - identity - sustainable - smart" orientation, promoting cultural values, natural landscapes and improving the quality of urban tourism management.
