Decisively implement dynamic projects
Identifying transport infrastructure as one of the strategic breakthroughs, for many years Lao Cai province has continuously prioritized resources to invest in key transport projects, gradually completing the inter-provincial and inter-regional connectivity network.
Currently, Lao Cai continues to focus on strategic projects such as the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line, the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway expansion, the project to connect traffic to the northern mountainous provinces and the border bridge across the Red River in Ban Vuoc commune, along with the connecting infrastructure system.
Among the projects being implemented, the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line is considered a project of particular importance to the development of the locality.

When completed, the road will connect Lao Cai international border gate with the Capital region and Hai Phong seaport, expand the Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor, creating a great advantage for logistics, import-export and freight transport activities.
To ensure progress, Lao Cai is mobilizing the entire political system to participate, focusing on site clearance and building resettlement areas.
The section passing through the province is about 143.6 km long, passing through 12 communes and wards, requiring the recovery of nearly 1,400 hectares of land with a total site clearance cost of about 8,200 billion VND.
To date, the locality has completed measurements of the entire route, counted more than 1,400 households and organizations, and issued land acquisition notices for 577 households.

For the component project to build the station square and connecting infrastructure, the province has handed over 7.46/7.9 ha of land to the Railway Project Management Board for construction deployment.
In parallel with that, the work of receiving land clearance markers for 9 stations and technical operation stations has also been completed.
To ensure stable people's lives, the province is also deploying 38 resettlement areas to serve the project, of which 28 areas have started construction, and the remaining 10 areas are completing investment procedures.
Completing regional connection network
Besides the railway line, many other key transport projects are also being accelerated.
The project to expand the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, more than 121 km long, with a total investment of 7,668 billion VND, is being implemented according to plan.

Meanwhile, the project to connect transportation in the northern mountainous provinces through Lao Cai has reached over 93% of the construction volume and is expected to be completed in 2026.

Not stopping at ongoing projects, Lao Cai continues to prepare to invest in many spillover projects such as the road connecting Sa Pa Airport; the road connecting Y Ty tourist area with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway; the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho - Lao Cai connecting route...

The locality is also coordinating with ministries, branches and Lai Chau province to prepare to invest in the Bao Ha - Lai Chau expressway (CT13), and at the same time propose to add the Son La - Lao Cai - Phu Tho - Tuyen Quang - Thai Nguyen expressway to the national road network plan.
According to leaders of Lao Cai province, synchronous investment in transport routes will gradually form a multimodal connection network between roads, railways and international border gates, creating new development space for border gate economic zones, industry, logistics, tourism and services.
From there, expand regional linkage space and improve local competitiveness in the new development phase.
