On August 17, the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command informed that the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains (temporary) is surveying to continue excavating and exhuming 10 unidentified martyrs' remains in Lao Cai ward and Bat Xat, Xuan Quang, Bao Nhai, Muong Hum and Tran Yen communes.
The remains after being exhumed will be kept, complete dossiers, and prepare for the memorial service and burial according to proper rituals, ensuring solemnity and reverence.
Implementing the 500 Days and Nights Campaign, Lao Cai province sets a target to search for and repatriate 70-80 sets of martyrs' remains by July 2027.

This is a task of special significance, expressing gratitude to those who bravely sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and at the same time meeting the aspirations of relatives of martyrs and people.
Colonel Hoang Van Toan - Deputy Political Commissar of the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command said that at cemeteries in the province, there are currently 4,718 martyrs' graves buried. Of which, 2,272 graves have complete information, 651 graves have incomplete information, and the rest have not been identified.
With the determination to complete the set plan, we are accelerating the progress of information verification, searching, and repatriating martyrs' remains to deploy phase 2 DNA sampling" - Colonel Hoang Van Toan said.

Previously, on August 16, the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains (temporary) organized excavation and exhumation of 2 martyrs' graves in the Northeast slopes of Da Voi hill, group 39, Cam Duong ward.
According to verified information, in 1984, during the performance of their duties, seven engineering soldiers sacrificed. After that, the soldiers were taken to the Da Voi hill area for burial.
Relatives of the five martyrs were then exhumed and taken back to their hometown for burial. The remaining two graves are located outside the cemetery area, identified in the Da Voi hill area.

The excavation and exhumation process is carried out carefully, ensuring professional and technical requirements.
After completion, the remains of the martyrs were handed over to the local authorities to complete the dossiers and move them to the Morgue at the Military Command of Bao Thang commune to organize a memorial service and burial according to regulations.
