On the morning of March 30, Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department received a Java pangolin weighing 2.1 kg from Mr. Truong Quang Phuoc's family (residing in village 2, Loc Ngai commune).
Before that, when preparing to close the gate to go to sleep, Mr. Phuoc suddenly heard a strange noise in the yard, near the vegetable garden area.
When checking, he discovered a pangolin crawling from the garden onto the porch. Realizing that this was a rare animal, Mr. Phuoc kept the pangolin and quickly reported it to the local authorities and authorities.
After receiving the report, Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department coordinated with Mr. Phuoc's family to receive the pangolin.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Head of Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department, said: Java pangolin belongs to group IB in the list of rare wild animals, listed in the Vietnam Red Book. This species is endangered and is strictly protected.
Mr. Truong Quang Phuoc's act of discovering and proactively handing over the pangolin was highly appreciated. The District Forest Protection Department will report to the People's Committee of Bao Lam District to consider commendation and reward to spread beautiful actions in the community.
After receiving the pangolin, the rangers will temporarily take care of it and complete the procedures to hand over the pangolin to Cat Tien National Park for release back into the natural environment according to regulations.
