On April 26, speaking with reporters, the representative of the investor of the Cao Bang city dam project said: "The contractor is installing flat valve doors, the work will start from the afternoon of April 25 and will be done continuously until April 29 to be able to raise water and conduct a trial operation on April 30 this year".
According to the actual records of the reporter, at the construction site, 1 valve has been successfully installed, the construction unit is installing the remaining valve doors, the total construction volume of the project has reached over 90%.
Mr. Hoang Van Thang (residing in Tan Giang ward) - shared: "Seeing the crane contractor installing a valve door, everyone was very excited, waiting for enough to see, everyone was eagerly waiting for the day to raise the water here".
Previously, in May 2023, the People's Council of Cao Bang province issued Resolution No. 20 approving the investment policy for the Cao Bang city dam construction project.
The investment objectives of the project are to offer and retain stable water for the river, creating a landscape of the city center space and facilitating the exploitation of surface water for production and living in the river. The total project investment is VND 150 billion.
After the dam is built, it will create an open, spacious water surface space to regulate the climate, improve the ecological environment, develop services, tourism on the river and on both sides of the river.
The water-upprising dam helps reduce the increase in the river water level, increase the stability of the riverbank, reduce the flow rate, and minimize landslides.
Regulate water levels in the dry season by using flat valve gates and returning flood drainage aperture almost to the natural river, ensuring flood drainage capacity.
It is known that in addition to the construction of a dam system, the Bang Giang riverbed is also being actively dredged and cleared to beautify the landscape, helping the flow to circulate better and prepare for water raising after the dam is completed.
