According to the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center (under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction), the new type of sign using LED backlights helps attract attention, supporting people to promptly adjust speed and react when participating in traffic.
Currently, the pilot is being implemented at 5 locations with high traffic, including: Walking line in front of 18 Ton Duc Thang, Saigon ward to warn pedestrians and vehicles; Pham Van Chi bridge, Binh Phu ward with 2 lighting signs on the height limit frame;
Install signs on the dragon fruit price to prohibit passenger cars, trucks and limit height in the Lang Cha Ca roundabout area, Tan Son Nhat ward and Tan Son Hoa ward;
At Lang Cha Ca roundabout, Tan Son Nhat ward and Tan Son Hoa ward installed signs prohibiting trucks and limiting height; Hoang Van Thu pedestrian bridge, Tan Son Hoa ward installed traffic signs on pedestrian bridges regulating height limitation.
According to the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center, the lighted traffic sign that is piloted is a type of sign that will be lit at night.
Initial records show that the lighting system effectively supports improving the identification of signs and reducing the risk of traffic accidents. At the same time, it helps people promptly adjust their speed and react well when participating in traffic.
The center is coordinating with monitoring and evaluation units to propose expanding the model, aiming to improve traffic safety throughout the city.
