Near the Lunar New Year, many people receiving pensions and social insurance allowances are waiting for the payment period in February and March to have more money to prepare for Tet.
Mr. Le Van Binh (Son Tay ward - Hanoi) said that his children are all working far away, only the two of them live in their hometown together, so both of them want the Tet shopping to be neat before their children return to their hometown for Tet so that their children are at ease and the family atmosphere is warm.
My children all work far from home, we all have pensions and allowances, so at the end of the year we want to shop neatly so that our children are assured. Knowing the combined payment schedule of 2 months, we are very happy, waiting for the day to receive them" - Mr. Binh shared.
Regarding this issue, previously, Vietnam Social Security had directed the payment of pensions and social insurance allowances for the payment period of January, February, and March 2026.
Based on Decree 233/2025/ND-CP on financial mechanisms for social insurance (BHXH), unemployment insurance (BHTN), health insurance (BHYT), only organizing and operating social insurance, unemployment insurance, health insurance; Notice 12590/TB-BNV in 2025 on changing working days during the New Year holiday in 2026 for officials, civil servants, public employees and laborers of state administrative agencies, public non-business units and enterprises, Notice 9441/TB-BNV in 2025 on Lunar New Year holidays, National Day holidays in 2026 for officials, civil servants, public employees and laborers;
To ensure full and timely payment of pensions and social insurance allowances for January, February and March 2026 to beneficiaries, Vietnam Social Security has issued an official dispatch guiding the implementation of a number of contents as follows:
Regarding the organization of monthly pension and social insurance allowance payments
Payment of pensions and social insurance allowances in February and March 2026: Social insurance agencies of provinces implement the combined payment of 2 months of pensions and social insurance allowances (February, March 2026) in the same period of payment of pensions and social insurance allowances in February 2026 (including beneficiaries receiving in cash and receiving through personal accounts).
For 4 Social Insurance agencies in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces - Social Insurance agencies of the provinces have paid pensions and social insurance allowances according to Official Dispatch 3145/BHXH-TCKT in 2025 on the combined payment of 3 months of pensions and social insurance allowances (December 2025, January and February 2026).
Implement the payment of pensions and social insurance allowances in March 2026 in the payment period only in February 2026 with these 4 provinces.
According to the direction of Vietnam Social Security, provincial social insurance will implement the combined payment of 2 months of pension and social insurance allowance (February, March 2026) in the same period of pension and social insurance allowance payment in February 2026 (including beneficiaries receiving in cash and receiving through personal accounts).
Thus, there will be no pension payment period for employees in March 2026 because the March pension has been paid in the same period as the February 2026 pension payment period for employees (including beneficiaries receiving in cash and receiving through personal accounts).
