Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a notice on the national flag hanging and Lunar New Year holiday in 2026.
Based on the Labor Code and the announcement of the Ministry of Home Affairs on the 2026 holiday and Tet schedule, officials, civil servants, public employees and laborers are entitled to a 5-day Lunar New Year holiday.
The Tet holiday starts from Monday, February 16, 2026 (ie, December 29 of the year At Ty), until the end of Friday, February 20, 2026 (ie, January 4 of the year Binh Ngo).
Due to coinciding with the two weekends before and after the holiday, the total Tet holiday for officials and civil servants of Ho Chi Minh City is extended for 9 consecutive days, from December 27 of the year At Ty to the end of January 6 of the year Binh Ngo.
Officials, civil servants and employees will return to work on Monday, February 23, 2026, which is the 7th day of Tet.
During the above Tet holiday, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests agencies, units, enterprises, schools, hospitals, armed forces units and households in the city to hang national flags in accordance with regulations.
For agencies and units that do not implement fixed Saturday and Sunday weekly leave regimes, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests to base on specific programs and plans to arrange appropriate holiday schedules, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and not disrupting professional activities.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigns the Chairmen of the People's Committees of wards, communes, special zones and heads of agencies and units to organize mobilization and reminders on the hanging of national flags in residential areas and units under management. At the same time, units must arrange forces to be on duty during Tet, ensuring security and order, fire and explosion prevention, agency and unit safety, and public playgrounds.
In addition, agencies and units are responsible for organizing continuous work, assigning officials and civil servants to be on duty to promptly handle unexpected situations that may occur during the Tet holiday; continue to guide, inspect, and supervise disease prevention and control work (if any) in localities and units under their management.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to guide localities to mobilize people, agencies, and organizations to maintain environmental sanitation and ensure aesthetics in residential areas, markets, schools, offices, enterprises and on roads during the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year.
