According to information from the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station has just presided over and coordinated with the Ha Long Bay Management Board to patrol and control the Hon Dao Reu area, Ha Long Bay, Ha Long City, and discovered 2 fishing boats with signs of fishing in a prohibited fishing area.
This area is in the core zone, prohibited from fishing according to Directive 18-CT/TU dated September 1, 2017 of the Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and Notice No. 554/TB-UBND dated September 14, 2018 of the People's Committee of Ha Long City. When seeing the authorities, the two fishing boats increased speed and fled, showing signs of destroying evidence and exhibits.
Through exploitation, the two fishing vessels above have the following license plates: BKS: QN-3893-TS, owned by Mr. Bui Viet Thu (residing in Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province) and fishing vessel BKS: QN-6240-TS, owned by Mr. Vu Van Phong (residing in Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh). The two fishing vessels above have committed violations, such as: the crew members on the fishing vessels are not listed in the Fishing Vessel Crew Register and do not re-register the fishing vessels for fishing vessels with the largest length of less than 15m, as stipulated in Decree 38/2024/ND-CP dated April 5, 2024 of the Government.
The Border Guard organized an escort to shore and completed the paperwork to handle the administrative violations of the two ship owners according to the law; at the same time, they seized the iron rakes of the fishing boats used for illegal fishing.
Previously, on December 21 and 22, during patrols and inspections, the Interdisciplinary Task Force also discovered and handled 3 vessels illegally fishing in the core area of Ha Long Bay heritage and using destructive fishing methods.
The authorities have brought the vehicles back to shore, made a record and completed the paperwork to handle the ship owners according to the law.
Since 2017, Quang Ninh has had regulations prohibiting fishing in the core area of Ha Long Bay as well as strictly handling the use of destructive fishing tools and gear.
Along with that, Quang Ninh province as well as coastal localities continuously release millions of juveniles into the sea to gradually regenerate marine aquatic resources.
