On the afternoon of December 4, Dakrong Traffic Police Station (Quang Tri Provincial Police) said that since noon of the same day, the unit has received many phone calls requesting information about a serious traffic accident that occurred on National Highway 9, through Lang Cat village (Dakrong commune, Dakrong district, Quang Tri province).
After checking, Dakrong Traffic Police Station confirmed that no traffic accident had occurred as described. Through investigation, it was found that a Facebook social network account named “Giai Dieu Que Huong” posted a video about a traffic accident in “live” format. In the video, there was a serious traffic accident scene with many cars crashing into each other and passersby helping the victims get out of the accident car and put them in an ambulance to be taken to the hospital.
“The accident in the video posted by the social media account happened years ago, not recently. Many people mistakenly thought that the live video was live at the scene,” said the leader of the Dakrong Traffic Police Station.
Because of the misconception that the accident had just happened, by 3 p.m. the same day, there had been more than 1,600 shares, 258,000 views and nearly 5,000 comments.
Determining that the video was posted on social media to create misunderstandings to increase interaction, Dakrong Traffic Police Station said it would report to relevant units to handle the case.
