According to records, the protective steel mesh system is installed along both sides of the bridge, with a solid structure, synchronous with the architectural structure and does not affect the visibility of traffic participants.
Along with the protective net system, artistic LED lighting is arranged along both sides of the bridge. When night falls, the lighting system creates a prominent highlight on the Lam River, contributing to changing the appearance of Ben Thuy 1 bridge and the Nghe An - Ha Tinh gateway area.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trung (60 years old, residing in Truong Vinh ward, Nghe An province) said that he regularly travels through Ben Thuy 1 bridge and has noticed that the bridge has changed a lot since the protection grid and decorative lights were completed.
I find the protective net of Ben Thuy 1 bridge very beautiful, at night the lighting system is shimmering, creating a feeling of more spaciousness and safety. Since having the protective net, there have been no unfortunate incidents here, especially after a whole World Cup season. I think that is very precious and respectable" - Mr. Trung shared.

Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Quang Thanh - Director of Road Management Zone II, Vietnam Road Administration - assessed that the protection net and decoration system at Ben Thuy 1 bridge have brought positive effects.
The project both meets the requirements of ensuring safety and creates a spacious and beautiful appearance for the bridge located on the key traffic route National Highway 1A.
The Ben Thuy 1 bridge protection net item is deployed appropriately, ensuring technical requirements, traffic safety and not affecting the structure of the project. After completion, the system has contributed to creating a beautiful landscape, improving safety levels and spreading a humane message to the community" - Mr. Tran Quang Thanh said.
The Director of Road Management Zone II also said that in the process of operation, relevant units need to continue to inspect and maintain regularly, promptly overcome arising damages so that the project maintains long-term efficiency.
Promoting post-installation effectiveness
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, in April 2026, the project to decorate and install the Ben Thuy 1 bridge protection system was implemented after completing design appraisal procedures, site inspection and being licensed for construction by the road management agency.
The project is invested by Nghi Xuan Commune People's Committee. According to the approved plan, the art LED lighting system is installed along both sides of the bridge, using low voltage to ensure safety.
Steel protective nets are installed at the bridge spans, contributing to limiting the risk of objects falling downwards, while preventing unsafe situations that may occur in this area.
The entire item is constructed in the form of assembly, without drilling or drilling into the current structure of the bridge, thereby not affecting the load-bearing capacity and stability of the project.
During the construction process, units implement it in sections, arranging signs, barriers and traffic control forces. The lighting system is required not to cause glare, not to create effects affecting vehicle drivers, and at the same time ensure safe and smooth traffic on National Highway 1A.
Ben Thuy 1 bridge is an important traffic project, serving the needs of travel and transportation of goods between Nghe An and Ha Tinh. The installation of protective nets and decorative lights not only beautifies the landscape but also contributes to building a safe and friendly traffic space.
