According to the report of National Power System Operation and Market Organization (NSMO), in June 2025, the North recorded the highest electricity consumption since the beginning of the year, causing great pressure on system operations.

Specifically, on June 2, 2025, the maximum capacity of the national power system will reach 51,672 MW, exceeding about 2,000 MW compared to the same period in 2024. Electricity consumption reached 1,028 million kWh, setting a new record in the first 6 months of 2025.
On July 9, 2025, the national and northern power systems simultaneously set a new record for electricity output in the context of widespread heat and many hydroelectric reservoirs having to overflow due to heavy rain (National electricity output reached 1,055.8 million kWh, with a capacity of 51,096MW, an increase of about 9% over the same period in July 2024). In the North alone, the output reached 545.2 million kWh, a new record high, with a capacity of 26,188MW, an increase of about 10% over the same period in July 2024.
In the first days of July 2025, the demand for electricity consumption in the Northern region continued to remain high.
The NSMO report said that in the first 6 months and 10 days of July 2025, the National Power System faced many challenges in operating the system due to extreme weather, severe heat and storms in many areas across the country.
In the face of complicated weather developments, the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that people and businesses increase energy saving: - Use electricity economically and effectively during peak hours from 13:00 to 15:00 and 20:00 to 23:00 every day.
- Prioritize the use of electrical equipment with energy-saving labels.
- turn off unnecessary equipment when leaving the room, remove theplug when not in use.
- Do not use multiple devices at the same time with high capacity during peak hours.
- Limit air conditioners to below 2627°C, you should combine the use of additional fans.
- Proactively monitor daily electricity consumption via the cskh/website app to adjust reasonable electricity usage behavior.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade affirmed that the use of electricity economically and effectively not only helps reduce electricity bills, but also contributes significantly to ensuring national energy security, especially during the peak summer period in 2025.
EVNHANOI recommends using electricity economically, avoiding the situation of high bills
Hanoi Electricity Corporation (EVNHANOI) has also recommended that customers control their daily electricity consumption index, use electricity economically and efficiently, and avoid high bills.

According to data from the Hanoi City Power System Control Center, the amount of electricity consumed in the whole city is continuously increasing. Specifically, if on July 6, the total consumption output reached 79.704 million kWh, then on July 7, this figure increased to 91.081 million kWh - an increase of more than 14.2%. More notably, by July 8, electricity output continued to skyrocket to 100.272 million kWh, an increase of 10.09% compared to the previous day.
If the high temperature continues to persist in the coming days, especially in the context of Hanoi entering the peak summer heat period, electricity consumption is expected to continue to increase.
Prolonged heat causes electricity consumption in daily life to increase significantly, largely due to the need to use many cooling devices such as air conditioners, fans, refrigerators, etc.
The harsh hot weather also significantly affects the performance of electrical equipment. Therefore, using electricity to save energy is still a necessary action to save costs, helping to ensure stable supply and contribute to safe operation of the power system.
EVNHANOI recommends that customers, offices and production places join hands to use electricity economically and efficiently, turn off unnecessary electrical equipment and limit the use of high-capacity equipment during peak hours of electricity consumption from 12:00 - 15:00 and from 22:00 - 24:00 every day. At the same time, pay attention to reasonable use of air conditioners (reserved at 26°C or higher, used in combination with fans).
In addition, EVNHANOI also recommends that customers should choose and use electrical equipment with energy-saving labels according to the regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Regularly clean and maintain the equipment to operate stably, improve longevity as well as save electricity and costs.
A very important thing for most household electrical appliances is to withdraw the plugs when not in use, because even though they are not in use, they still contribute to the increase in electricity bills.
According to the Berkeley Research Institute, California, USA: Up to unused devices, even if not used, will still consume about 5% - 10% of the electricity consumed in the family.
In parallel with saving electricity by daily behavior, EVNHANOI encourages customers to use the EVNHANOI App or the evnhanoi.vn website to easily and intuitively track electricity consumption indicators.

In particular, the Setting warning thresholds feature on the EVNHANOI App is being highly appreciated by many households. This feature allows users to proactively set the desired consumption level in the month.
When the electricity usage level exceeds the set threshold, the system will automatically send warnings via the application, helping customers promptly adjust their consumption behavior before the bill increases dramatically. This is a smart solution, especially useful for families with young children on summer vacation, the elderly staying at home all day or using multiple air conditioning rooms at the same time.
