On the afternoon of January 15, Phu My Ward Police (Ho Chi Minh City) had a quick report on the case of 2 workers dying suspected of being suffocated by gas under a manhole on Hoang Dieu street, Tan Ngoc neighborhood.
Through verification, the 2 victims include Mr. P.V.B (born in 1993, permanently residing in Long Dien commune), a worker of T.T Company (headquarters in Tam Thang ward, Ho Chi Minh City); and Mr. N.T.T (born in 1998, from Gia Lai), a worker of B.A Company (headquarters in Binh Dong ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
At the time of the incident, Mr. P.V.B lowered a ladder into the manhole (about 7 m deep) to measure the depth for mud dredging. After going down a short distance, Mr. B suddenly fell to the bottom of the manhole. Seeing this, Mr. N.T.T immediately went down to rescue him, but later both fainted, suspected of poison gas poisoning.
At about 2 pm on the same day, the Fire and Rescue Forces brought the 2 victims out of the manhole and transferred them to the Phu My Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment, but both workers died.
Currently, the Ward Police are coordinating with professional units to continue investigating and clarifying.
