Phong Ha Nam Hospital (also known as Ba Sao maple camp), Kim Bang town, Ha Nam province is a place where people with maple disease live quietly in deserted mountainous areas.
Although phong trao has now been completely treated, the consequences of the disease are still very serious. Many patients are disabled due to having to have their legs, arms chopped off, their fingers chopped off... and have to rely on the care of their homeowners. There are patients whose limbs are almost completely stunted.

Unfortunately suffering from phong an at the age of 16, Ms. Trinh Thi Gai (from Nam Dinh) shared: "When I learned that I had phong an, my neighbors were afraid of me, suspended me, distorted me, and even pushed me away to another place, and my family could not protect me. powerless in the face of the situation, I went to Ba Sao maple farm, and have been attached to it as a family until now".
Also going to Ba Sao maple farm because being bullied by everyone, Ms. Dinh Thi Xuan (from Ha Nam) said: "I don't remember since I was admitted to the hospital, I only discovered the disease when I was 20 years old. I came here to completely treat my illness, my health was stable, and there was an opportunity for me to return to my hometown to visit relatives. I did not choose to return to my hometown to live completely because I was used to living in a maple farm, partly because I lived too long in discrimination, making me feel self-conscious and afraid of affecting my children and grandchildren," said Ms. Xuan.

Understanding the physical and mental pain that phong sung patients have to endure, the doctors and staff of Ba Sao phong camp always try to help the patient ease the pain. For severe patients, the households take care of each piece of rice, sipping water, and personal hygiene. They are also people who often confide, share, chat, and encourage patients.
"Remembering the previous days, I felt miserable, but I was even luckier than finding Ba Sao phong camp. Here, I get to live with people in the same situation, and receive care and treatment like a family member. For people like us, that is very happy," said Ms. Xuan.
In recent years, the deserted mountain range has become warmer when charity groups from all over have come to Ba Sao maple camp, bringing gifts of cakes, warm blankets and sharing and encouragement for maple patients.
