On the morning of October 6, Mr. Vuong Hong Thai - Chairman of Van An Commune People's Committee said that a thunderstorm had just occurred in the area lasting more than 10 minutes, followed by heavy rain.
"No human casualties have been recorded, but many houses and structures have had their roofs blown off and were severely damaged," said Mr. Thai.
On the evening of October 5, a security camera of a household along National Highway 46 recorded a dangerous scene: strong winds caused the large corrugated iron roof to fly onto the road, sometimes "throwing" it into the road surface and causing fire.
A woman returning from working in the fields just had to run away and escape a miserable accident. Another person left his motorbike to escape, many people quickly took the path to the shelter.
Previously, this area suffered heavy damage due to storm No. 10, infrastructure and houses had just been temporarily repaired, but thunderstorms continued to occur, causing many corrugated iron roofs and fences to be damaged. "We are directing the hamlets to specifically count the damage, but according to initial assessments, many households were affected" - Mr. Thai added.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, also on the afternoon of October 5, a thunderstorm occurred in Thong Thu commune (Nghe An) collapsed 2 houses of Vi Van Thang and Ha Van Huyen households (Muong Piet village), blocking the roofs of many other households. Currently, local authorities are coordinating with functional forces to support people to overcome the consequences and ensure safety against unusual weather developments.
