Information from the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) on December 28 said that this unit has just issued a warning that in some provinces and cities in the Southern region, bad guys continue to impersonate electricity employees, call customers to trick them into installing applications on their mobile phones, thereby appropriating customers' money.
According to information from EVNSPC, recently, a resident named N, residing in Binh Thanh commune, Hong Ngu city, Dong Thap province, had more than 1.1 billion VND stolen when he followed the instructions of a stranger who called him claiming to be an electricity employee and asked him to install an application on his mobile phone to pay his electricity bill. N followed the instructions, logged in with his personal information, linked his bank account, transferred some money to confirm his identity and activate his account.
After completing the request, N discovered that his bank account had been emptied, so he reported it to the police. Hong Ngu City Police have received the case and are investigating and handling it.

Previously, EVNSPC and its member units have repeatedly warned in the media about the situation of impersonating electricity industry employees to defraud customers such as: informing customers that they are in debt for electricity bills or have not paid yet, if they do not pay quickly, their electricity will be cut off; instructing customers to access links to install fake applications; impersonating the website of EVNSPC Customer Service Center, with an interface similar to the Google Play platform to trick customers into downloading applications impersonating the EVNSPC Customer Service application...
"Once again, EVNSPC recommends that people and electricity customers need to be extremely vigilant, absolutely do not provide bank account information to strangers; do not access links, do not install strange applications; do not follow instructions from phone numbers, fake documents of the electricity industry", information from EVNSPC reminds people.
When detecting suspicious cases with signs of falsifying information of the electricity industry, immediately call the hotline 19001006 or 19009000 of EVNSPC Customer Service Center; or contact the nearest police agency for timely handling measures.
Currently, Southern Power Corporation only owns a single website with the address: https://evnspc.vn and the website of EVNSPC Customer Service Center with the address: https://cskh.evnspc.vn. Therefore, the electricity industry recommends that customers using electricity when requesting any service of EVNSPC, only look up information at the above official address; or contact the switchboard number 19001006 or 19009000 for advice and answers 24/7.
