According to information from the Hanoi Railway Management Board (MRB), today (July 28), the TBM tunnel excavator No. 1 named "Than Gia" officially entered the S11 - Van Mieu underground station, marking an important technical milestone in the construction of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro tunnel.
According to MRB, TBM No. 1 started from S9 - Kim Ma station, drilled the tunnel with a total length of about 2028m to S11 - Van Mieu station, equivalent to completing the installation of a total of 1,350 tunnel lining rings, strictly complying with technical, safety and environmental standards.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Son - Deputy Head of the Hanoi Railway Management Board said that the excavation of TBM No. 1 " expressway" to S11 Van Mieu Station is the result of the tireless efforts of the team of domestic and international engineers, workers and experts over the past time.
This is not only an important technical milestone but also a testament to the effective coordination between investors, consultants, contractors and the city's authorities in complex construction conditions in Hanoi.

Mr. Lee Young Kyeong - Deputy Project Director, Representative of the Hyundai - Ghella Joint Venture (HGU) said that the successful approach of TBM No. 1 to S11 - Van Mieu Station is an important technical milestone in the construction of the metro tunnel section under Hanoi.
As the main contractor of the CP03 - tunnel and underground stations package, the Hyundai - Ghella joint venture always strictly controls tunnel digging parameters, to ensure that it does not affect the above works and urban traffic, overcoming many technical difficulties to ensure safe and effective construction.
"We will maintain this performance in the next phase to contribute to the overall success of metro line No. 3," Mr. Lee Young Kyeong shared.
As of July 24, 2025, the overall construction progress of the CP03 package - Tunnels and underground stations reached 62.74%.
The underground slope has been completed 80.97%, Station S9 - Kim Ma has been completed 50.53%, the Steep well is completed 26.07%, the tunnel has reached 65.10%, stations S10, S11, S12 (including lane change and garage) have been completed 69.23%, 58.16%, 65.53%, respectively.
