The Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board has just provided information on the progress of the 2.5 Ring Road and Giai Phong Road underpass project (old National Highway 1A).
The underpass of Ring Road 2.5 and Giai Phong road is a group B project, class I project, the total length of the tunnel and access road is about 890m. In which the closed tunnel and open tunnel are 460m long (the length of the closed tunnel is 140m, the length of the open tunnel section is 320m); the barrier wall, the access road connected to the existing road is 430m long.
The starting point connects to the Ring Road 2.5 project, Dam Hong - National Highway 1A section, about 460m from the intersection with National Highway 1A; the ending point connects to the existing Kim Dong road, about 460m from the intersection with National Highway 1A (adjacent to the Set River bridge) (Decision approving project No. 5804/QD-UBND dated October 26, 2018; adjusted in Decision 1949/QD-UBND dated June 9, 2022).
The total investment of the project is 778.393 billion VND (construction cost of 566.552 billion VND). The project implementation period is from 2022 - Q2/2026.


Regarding the capital plan, the Project Management Board said that the accumulated disbursement from the beginning of the project to the reporting time is 474.950 billion VND; the capital plan for 2026 is 25 billion VND (Decision No. 633/QD-UBND dated February 9, 2026).
The Project Management Board said that the project has basically completed site clearance to date.
Regarding the construction situation, on February 10, 2026, the project was technically opened to traffic, meeting the progress according to the direction of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee.
Currently, construction is continuing to complete the left-aligned service road on Dam Hong side; technical infrastructure and lighting system on Dam Hong side; restoring the railway infrastructure system in Giap Bat station...
According to the plan, the entire project will be completed in March 2026.


This is the 5th underpass in the Capital built from 2009 to date, after Kim Lien, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan, Le Van Luong tunnels and the 2nd underpass project in Hanoi under the railway, after Kim Lien tunnel.
