On May 24, the leader of the People's Committee of Dien Ban town, Quang Nam confirmed that an explosion had just occurred in the area, killing 1 person.
At around 1:45 p.m. on May 23, at the house of Ms. D.T.T.H (51 years old, residing in Co An Dong block, Dien Nam Dong ward, Dien Ban town), a loud explosion occurred.
Through inspection, the authorities discovered that Ms. H's son, Mr. Mai Van Hung (21 years old), was lying on the side of the house, with all- than injury, and in a dying state. When medical staff arrived for emergency treatment, Hung had died.
At the scene, there were many warheads, bullet shells, mines, etc. around the victim's location.
Through information, the police determined that Hung had an intellectual disability, or was looking into metals for sale, and it was possible that the victim had sawed bombs and mines, leading to the explosion.
The cause of the incident is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities.
