On the afternoon of August 20, the Standing Committee of the An Phu Ward Party Committee held an expanded conference of the Executive Committee of the Ward Party Committee for the eighth time, term I, term 2025 - 2030.
The conference aims to comprehensively assess the organizational and operational situation of localities after the operation of the 2-level local government model. At the same time, discuss and propose plans to arrange commune-level administrative units in the area.
According to the report at the conference, An Phu ward was established on the basis of arranging the entire natural area and population size of An Phu ward under Thuan An city in the past and a part of the area and population of Binh Chuan ward. An Phu ward officially operates under the 2-level local government model from July 1, 2025. Currently, the ward has a natural area of 16.85 km2, a population of 172, 410 people. From July 1, 2026, the ward reorganizes neighborhoods, increasing from 7 to 14 neighborhoods with more than 98,000 households.
According to assessments, An Phu ward has a large population scale, of which the temporary resident population accounts for over 75%. Currently, the management of residence, population data updates and public service provision pose increasingly high requirements. There are currently about 4,800 businesses, 9,125 individual production and business establishments and 6 markets in the area.
Based on a comprehensive review, the Standing Committee of the An Phu Ward Party Committee proposed to maintain the stability of An Phu ward, and not to implement mechanical arrangement with other administrative units in the current review.
At the conference, delegates focused on exchanging, discussing, and evaluating the organizational and operational status of the ward after more than a year of operating the 2-level local government model, and at the same time giving opinions on the plan to arrange administrative units. 100% of delegates agreed not to merge An Phu ward in this review.
Previously, on August 10, the Organization Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee sent a document to the Party Secretary, the Standing Committee of the Party Committees of communes, wards, and special zones on evaluating and proposing plans for arranging commune-level administrative units in Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, the Party Committees of wards and communes are organizing an expanded Party Committee Executive Committee meeting to discuss, review and comprehensively assess the organizational and operational situation of the locality after the operation of the 2-level local government model.
