In the next 24-48 hours, the intertropical convergence zone will have its axis through the North and North Central regions, connected to the tropical depression and tend to slightly shift to the North. Southwest monsoon is active with moderate to strong intensity. Meanwhile, the northern branch of the subtropical high pressure tends to encroach westward; upper-level wind convergence continues to be maintained over the Southern region.
In the next 3-10 days, the intertropical convergence zone will continue to have its axis through the North and be more active in the last 1-2 days of the forecast period. Southwest monsoon maintains medium to strong intensity. The northern branch of the subtropical high pressure is relatively stable, tending to encroach westward on August 24-25. Upper-level wind convergence continues to be maintained over the Southern region.
Due to the impact of the above patterns, the South is forecast to have showers and thunderstorms in many places in the late afternoon, concentrated in the eastern provinces and Lam Dong; some places have moderate to heavy rain. In the western provinces, rain appears scattered, mainly from small to moderate in August 22. From August 23, rain tends to increase.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can cause damage to agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and infrastructure. Heavy rain also risks causing flooding, affecting traffic, production, living and crops.
