Lao Cai - In the next 6 hours, rain will continue, increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides, and subsidence in 21 communes and wards.

On the morning of September 14th, the Lao Cai meteorological agency issued a warning that from 8 pm on September 13th to 6 am on September 14th, many areas in the area will experience moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places.

Notably, the soil moisture model shows that some areas in the province have soil moisture above 70%. This is a condition that increases the risk of landslides when rain continues to last.

Forecast for the next 6 hours, some areas of Lao Cai will continue to have rain, common rainfall of 10-20mm, in some places over 50mm.

On the soil, there is already high humidity, heavy rain can cause flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on hillsides, slopes of traffic routes and land subsidence.

21 communes and wards are warned to be located in areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, and subsidence in the next 6 hours.

In which, in Ban Ho commune, the risk is warned in all villages, hamlets and high-risk points. Especially the road from Thanh Phu bridge to Ban Den intersection, the section passing through Hoang Lien village.

In Hanh Phuc commune, people need to pay special attention to the Ban Cong village area, Km28+150 and Km30+100 on Provincial Road 174, Hanh Phuc - Xim Vang route.

In Minh Luong commune, Minh Thuong, 1 Minh Ha, 1 Minh Chieng and Nam Xay villages are in the warning area. Mo Vang commune needs to be wary in Khe Long, Sai Luong, Khe Trau and An Luong villages.

For the Mu Cang Chai area, the risk is warned on National Highway 32 and the road to Che Tao.

In Cau Thia ward, the Thia stream embankment area and Provincial Road 174, the section passing through Ban Co residential group are at risk of landslides.

Pung Luong commune is also warned in many areas, including Km8+50 of provincial road 175B.

Ta Xi Lang commune notes the positive taluy area on the main road from Van Chan commune to Ta Xi Lang Commune People's Committee.

In Tu Le commune, people and vehicles need to pay special attention to points along National Highway 32, the section through Khau Pha pass, Ta Sung/Ta Cho village and the Km266+200 and Km269+750 areas...

The meteorological agency warns of the level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, subsidence due to rain and floods or currents at level 1.

In conditions where rain is still continuing, the risk of natural disasters may occur unexpectedly, especially in areas with steep terrain, soil and rocks that have been waterlogged or have shown signs of landslides.

People in warned areas need to regularly monitor weather information and proactively plan to ensure safety for people and property.

When abnormal signs appear such as cracked soil and rocks, sliding, rapid stream water rises, water changes color or abnormal noises appear from the hillside, it is necessary to quickly move out of the dangerous area.

To proactively respond and minimize damage, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requested agencies, units, and localities to closely monitor forecast bulletins, promptly inform people with a spirit of urgency, absolutely not subjective or negligent.

Units strictly implement the "four on-the-spot" motto, fully prepare forces, vehicles, equipment, food and necessities to be ready for rescue and relief right from the first hour.
