From the night of July 4 to 11 am on July 5, due to the impact of storm No. 1's circulation, prolonged heavy rain in Ngoc Chien and Muong La communes, Son La province caused flooding and landslides on many traffic routes, stream water rose, affecting people's lives.
In Ngoc Chien commune, many roads showed water overflowing the road surface, mud and rocks slid down, some hard bridges were eroded, causing difficulties for travel, especially the route from Chom Khau village, Ke village to Muong La.
In Muong La commune, floodwaters on the Nam Pam stream rose high and flowed swiftly, causing damage to people's property and crops, including more than 20 hectares of rice, 700 m of irrigation ditches, and landslides of 5 houses.


According to data from rainfall stations in Son La province, rainfall from the evening of July 4 to the morning of July 5 was very heavy, including Nam Pam nearly 250 mm, Chieng Muon more than 147 mm, Nam Chien Hydropower more than 134 mm. Many other areas such as Ngoc Chien, Xim Vang, Hua Trai, Ta Xua also recorded heavy to very heavy rain.
Currently, rain is still continuing, localities are implementing the "4 on-site" motto, urgently overcoming landslide points, ensuring traffic and statistics of damage.

The government recommends that people not cross streams when water rises, and proactively move people and property to safe places when there is a risk of flash floods and landslides.
