Prolonged heavy rain, many streets in Da Nang are flooded

Da Nang - Many streets and residential areas have been heavily flooded since early this morning (November 5) due to heavy, prolonged rain.

From 1am to 7am on November 5, Da Nang city experienced heavy to very heavy rain. Total rainfall was commonly from 150mm to 230mm.

From midnight to morning, many residential areas were flooded. In many places, water flooded into houses. People stayed up all night to watch for floods and clean their houses.

According to the hydrometeorological agency, heavy rains occurred throughout Da Nang city. Some places such as the Irrigation Department had 229.2mm of rain, Son Tra 221mm, Da Nang city center 180.2mm, Cam Le 148.8mm... The soil moisture model shows that Da Nang city has reached a state of saturation and near saturation, over 85%.

Warning: In the next 6 hours, there will continue to be rain in Da Nang city, with heavy to very heavy rain in some places.Total rainfall is commonly 60-140mm, in some places over 200mm.

There is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and localized flooding in low-lying areas.Especially for communes (wards), districts (counties) with the risk level of natural disasters due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence due to heavy rain or Vietnamese sausagey is level 1.

Flash floods, landslides and localized flooding can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affecting the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities. There is a high risk of impact on residential areas and infrastructure in areas with steep slopes and narrow rivers and streams.

Some schools in Da Nang have proactively let students take a day off on the morning of November 5.
