Heavy rain causes bridge abutments collapse in Hue, traffic disruption

HUE - Prolonged heavy rain caused the Phu Mau bridge abutment on Provincial Road 14B to collapse, cutting off traffic in the area.

On the morning of November 3, the Phu Mau bridge abutment at Km20+25 on Provincial Road 14B (the section connecting Khe Tre commune with the center of Hue city) collapsed due to prolonged heavy rain, causing traffic in the area to be completely cut off.

Previously, consecutive floods caused severe landslides on the route, especially at the La Son - Tuy Loan expressway intersection and the road to Khe Tre, isolating the three communes of Nam Dong, Khe Tre and Long Quang.

Although the authorities have temporarily opened a traffic lane, heavy rain from November 2 to early morning of November 3 continued to cause landslides, damaging the intersection and completely collapsing the Phu Mau bridge abutment.

The local government and the Hue City Department of Construction have grasped the information, inspected the scene and made a plan to overcome the situation.

In the immediate future, the authorities have put up warning signs and advised people not to move through the dangerous area.
