On September 23, Ca Mau Provincial Hydrometeorological Station warned of level 2 flooding in the province due to prolonged heavy rain combined with rising river water levels.
According to monitoring data at 7:00 AM on the same day, the water level at Ca Mau station reached 1.10m, 0.25m higher than alarm level 3. At Phuoc Long station, the water level reached 0.99m, 0.09m higher than alarm level 3.
In the next 24 hours, Ca Mau will continue to experience widespread heavy rain. Rainfall at some points is recorded at a high level, including U Minh 145mm, Khanh An 1 is 127.8mm and Ly Van Lam 104.5mm.
Heavy rain and rising water levels caused many low-lying areas, riverside areas, and coastal areas to be flooded. In the central area of the province, many roads in An Xuyen, Tan Thanh, and Ly Van Lam wards were flooded from 15-30cm, with some places over 30cm.
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, the highest flooding time of the day is around 12:00-12:00. Water levels at Ca Mau and Phuoc Long stations are forecast to continue to rise slowly in the next 2-3 days.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of landslides and subsidence in key areas, riverside, coastal areas, especially locations with many vehicles passing through. Heavy rain and flooding can affect people's travel, production, and business activities.
