Heavy rain in Da Nang, mountainous areas proactively evacuate people from landslide risk points

Da Nang - Heavy rain causes landslides on Nong Son Pass, collapsing many power poles; in Hoa Vang, functional forces urgently evacuate people from dangerous areas.

On September 12, in the face of prolonged heavy rain, mountainous localities in Da Nang simultaneously reviewed key points, handled landslides and proactively developed plans to ensure safety for people.

On the same morning, heavy rain caused landslides in the Nong Son pass area to Que Phuoc, causing many power poles to fall, affecting traffic on National Highway 14H.

Immediately after the incident, the People's Committee of Nong Son commune directed functional forces to urgently handle soil and rocks, and overcome affected locations. By noon on September 12, the road section through Nong Son pass had been cleared, and traffic returned to normal.

However, because soil and rocks are still waterlogged, the risk of continued landslides is still high. Que Phuoc Commune Police warned people to limit moving through hilly roads when it is dark and heavy rain; absolutely do not go through deeply flooded areas, fast-flowing water or points where landslides have appeared.

In Hoa Vang commune, on the morning of September 12, after receiving information that the area of Ms. Le Thi Cuc's house (60 years old, residing in Bo Ban village) showed signs of potential landslide risk, the Military Command of the commune immediately mobilized standing militia forces to the scene.

The house is located near the area where National Highway 14B is under construction, the terrain has many unfavorable factors in prolonged rain conditions.

The militia force has coordinated with local authorities and families to relocate people, household items and essential assets out of the dangerous area, not waiting for landslides to occur to respond.

At the same time, in La De commune, the Civil Defense Command of the commune organized field inspections in areas that had experienced or were at high risk of landslides and rockslides.

Through inspection, the surveyed locations have not yet recorded signs of serious landslides directly threatening people and works. However, the locality continues to arrange forces to monitor key points and promptly handle any abnormalities.

Villages are required to pay special attention to households living near rivers, streams, streams, high slopes, low-lying areas or areas that may be cut off. People are advised to proactively monitor warnings, limit travel during heavy rain and be ready to move when requested by the authorities.

Early inspection, immediate handling of landslide points and proactively removing people from dangerous areas are being prioritized by Da Nang mountainous communes during this heavy rain.
