The tropical depression is currently in the eastern sea of the Philippines and is expected to enter the East Sea on November 25. The meteorological agency said that this weather pattern is likely to strengthen into a storm and head towards the Central provinces in the coming days.
Focus on overcoming flood consequences, while preparing for a new disaster
Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Tran Phong requested localities and units to urgently deploy measures to overcome the consequences of floods, restore production - business, and stabilize people's lives.
At the same time, the entire system must be ready to respond to new developments in the tropical depression that are likely to strengthen into a storm.
Localities are required to closely monitor weather developments; strictly manage vehicles going out to sea; organize counting, notify the location and direction of the tropical depression to ship owners and captains to proactively avoid or escape from the danger zone. Rescue forces must always be ready to support people when needed.
The Office of the Provincial Civil Defense Command is assigned to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to develop a response scenario for each stage, in accordance with the development of the tropical depression.
Warning of strong winds and big waves in the East Sea from the evening of November 25
According to the Khanh Hoa Province Hydrometeorological Station, at 1:00 a.m. on November 25, the tropical depression was located in the central Philippines with winds of level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusting to level 9.
At 1:00 a.m. on November 26, the tropical depression is forecast to move into the southeastern sea area of the central East Sea and is likely to strengthen into a storm with winds of level 8, gusting to level 10. After that, the storm will continue to strengthen and head towards the mainland of the Central provinces.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression strengthening into a storm, from the evening of November 25, the eastern sea area between the East Sea and the northeastern sea area of the southern East Sea will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7; the area near the storm center will have strong winds of level 8, gusts of level 10, waves 3-5m high, rough seas.
From the afternoon of November 26 to November 28, the area between the East Sea and the northern sea area of the southern East Sea (including the northern sea area of Truong Sa special zone) is likely to be affected by strong winds of level 10-11, gusting to level 14.
Ship operating in the dangerous area may encounter thunderstorms, strong winds and large waves.
The units managing irrigation and hydropower works are required to urgently inspect and reinforce damaged items; closely monitor the amount of water flowing into the lake to proactively regulate and lower the water level to receive floods.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, press agencies and coastal information systems are assigned to increase warning information to people and owners of vehicles operating at sea to promptly respond.
