On the morning of November 7, Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch, confirmed that floods caused by storm No. 13 have caused serious landslides on the North-South railway line at Km1136+850, Van Canh - Phuoc Lanh section.
The damaged section is about 90m long, up to 9m deep, the roadbed was washed away by floodwaters, causing the rails to be "suspended" floating in the air.
Trains cannot travel through the above area. The railway industry is also trying to fix this problem.
According to the Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch, the force of workers, equipment and related units are urgently zoning, surveying and preparing a repair plan.
However, due to complex terrain and strong water flows, the restoration work may take a few days to complete.
In the immediate future, the railway industry has organized car passenger transit between Dieu Tri Station (Gia Lai) and Tuy Hoa Station (Dak Lak) to ensure the journey of the North - South trains.
On November 6, affected trains include SE1, SE3 (from North to South) and SE8, SE6 (from South to North).
SE1 and SE3 train passengers were transferred from Dieu Tri station from 7.25 am on November 7.
The SE8 train departs from Tuy Hoa station at 8:58, carrying 145 passengers on 4 cars, crossing the cut-off section to continue the journey.
The railway industry recommends that passengers should contact the station where they buy tickets directly or follow the announcement of Vietnam Railways Corporation to update the latest schedule, limiting crowded gatherings at transit stations.
