As of 2:30 p.m. on December 17, 2025, according to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir recorded upstream water levels at elevation of 119.6m, about 0.4m lower than the normal water level of 120m. The water flow to the lake reached 117 m3/s, the total discharge was 184.12 m3/s, all through the plant, without opening the deep discharge or facial discharge.
In the Northwest, Lai Chau Lake has an upstream water level of 294.76m, close to the normal water level of 295m. The water flow to the reservoir is 153 m3/s, the total discharge is 458 m3/s, all through the power plant.
Ban Chat and Huoi Quang reservoirs continue to operate stably. The water level of Ban Chat Lake reached 474.68m, about 0.32m lower than the normal water level of 475m; Huoi Quang Lake was at 369.69m, nearly 370m below the normal water level. Both lakes are currently not discharging, the flow to the lake is 36 m3/s and 39 m3/s respectively.
Son La Lake - the largest reservoir in the Da River system - has an upstream water level of 214.67m, about 0.33m lower than the normal water level of 215m. The water flow to the lake reached 271 m3/s, the total discharge was 1,382 m3/s, all through the plant.
Meanwhile, Hoa Binh Lake recorded upstream water levels at elevation of 115.77m, about 1.23m lower than the normal water level of 117m. The water flow to the lake reached 966 m3/s, the total discharge was 959 m3/s, no deep discharge or surface discharge.
At Thac Ba Lake, the upstream water level reached 57.81m, nearly the normal water level of 58m. The flow to the lake is 140 m3/s, the total discharge is 271.52 m3/s, all through the plant.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, December 17, the Northern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places. Cold weather, some places are very cold.
The area from Quang Tri to Da Nang city, the east of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will have rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain. The Southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms at night and sunny days.
