The water level in large hydroelectric reservoirs in the North is stable, many reservoirs are approaching or are close to normal water levels, the discharge through the dam remains low.

As of 9:00 a.m. on December 15, 2025, according to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir recorded upstream water levels at 119.67 m, about 0.33 m lower than the normal rising water level. The water flow to the reservoir reached 112.99 m3/s, the reservoir did not release water through overflow or generate electricity.

In the Northwest, large lakes continue to maintain high water levels. Lai Chau Lake has an upstream water level of 294.42 m, 0.58 m lower than the normal water level, the water flow to the lake is 722 m3/s, and discharge has not been recorded.

Ban Chat Lake (Lai Chau province) has a water level of 474.61 m, nearly normal, the water flow to the lake is low, about 11 m3/s. Huoi Quang Lake also recorded a water level of 369.8 m, only 0.2 m lower than the normal water level, the water flow to the lake reached 5 m3/s, no water discharge.

Son La Lake has an upstream water level of 214.69 m, 0.31 m lower than the normal water level, the water flow to the lake is 151 m3/s, and has not been discharged.

Notably, Hoa Binh Lake recorded an upstream water level of 116.01 m, nearly 1 m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to the lake reached 40 m3/s, while the total discharge reached 540 m3/s, mainly through power generation, without overflow.

At Thac Ba Lake (Yen Bai Province), the upstream water level reached 57.91 m, 0.09 m lower than the normal rising water level. The water flow to the lake reached 140 m3/s, the total discharge was 270.94 m3/s, not discharged through the spillway.
