As of 2:00 p.m. on December 14, 2025, according to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir, the upstream water level reached 119.7 m, only 0.3 m lower than the normal rising water level (120 m). The water flow to the lake has reached 111 m3/s, and there is currently no discharge through the spillway or power generation.
In the Northwest region, large lakes such as Lai Chau, Ban Chat, Huoi Quang and Son La all recorded upstream water levels approaching normal water levels. Notably, Ban Chat Lake reached 474.59 m, nearly reaching the normal elevation of 475 m, while the water flow to the lake was low, only 19 m3/s.
Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir alone recorded upstream water levels of 116.11 m, 0.89 m lower than the normal water level. However, the water flow to the lake reached 168 m3/s, while the total discharge was up to 617 m3/s, mainly through the hydropower plant, not discharged through the spillway and not opening the deep discharge gate or excavating the surface.
At Thac Ba Lake, the upstream water level reached 57.92 m, approximately the normal water level (58 m), the water flow to the lake reached 140 m3/s, and has not yet been discharged.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, December 14, the Northern region will be cold, with some places experiencing severe cold; mountainous and midland areas will be very cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. The North Central region will turn cold.
Due to the influence of cold air, in the area from Nghe An to Hue, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms; in Da Nang city and the east of Quang Ngai province, there will be rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, hail and strong gusts of wind.
The Southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
