According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 12:00 on June 18, in the Da River basin, Hoa Binh reservoir reached an elevation of 99.11m, 17.89m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to the reservoir was at 1,970m3/s, while the total discharge flow for electricity generation reached 1,575m3/s.
Son La Lake has a water level of 195.32m, 19.68m lower than the normal water level, the water flow to the lake reaches 1,308m3/s and is generating electricity with a discharge flow of 475m3/s.
In Lai Chau, the reservoir water level reached 288.71m, 6.29m lower than the normal water level. The reservoir is discharging electricity at 1,037m3/s, 678m3/s higher than the inflow to the reservoir.
Ban Chat and Huoi Quang reservoirs maintained water levels of 448.02m and 368.07m respectively, both at high levels but still lower than normal water levels. Water flow to the reservoirs reached from 216-440m3/s.
In the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Lake recorded a fairly large water inflow to the lake, reaching 501m3/s. The lake water level is at an elevation of 97.1m, 22.9m lower than the normal water level.
In the North Central region, Trung Son Lake has a water level of 154.2m, 5.8m lower than the normal water level, the inflow to the lake reaches 88m3/s. Ban Ve Lake is at 174.32m, 25.68m lower than the normal water level and has not been discharged.
In the Central - Central Highlands region, most hydropower reservoirs have low water inflows. A Vuong, Song Bung 2, Song Bung 4, Song Tranh 2, Pleikrông, Se San 4 and Dai Ninh reservoirs all do not discharge overflows. Some reservoirs generate electricity with small flows to meet the operation needs of the power system.
Notably, An Khe reservoir is discharging a total of 46m3/s, of which 4m3/s is through the spillway. Buon Kuop reservoir discharges 15.12m3/s through the spillway. These are two rare reservoirs in the list recorded with discharge flow through the spillway at the time of update.
In the Southeast region, Tri An reservoir has a water level of 54.18m, 7.82m lower than the normal water level. The inflow to the reservoir reached 290m3/s, while the total discharge flow for power generation was at 675m3/s.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on June 18, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with locally very heavy rain. Rain concentrated from late afternoon to morning.
The area from Nghe An to Da Nang city and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will be hot, with intense heat in some places with the highest common temperature of 35-37 degrees C, in some places above 38 degrees C.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, with locally heavy rain.
