Many hydropower reservoirs across the country are still lower than the normal water level, while large reservoirs in the Northern region continue to discharge electricity with high flow rates.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 4:30 PM on May 6, in the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang Lake recorded an upstream water level of 110.39m, 9.61m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to the lake reached 50m3/s, the total discharge through the plant was 130.15m3/s.

The Northwest region continues to be the place with the largest water inflow and discharge volume in the system. Lai Chau Lake reached a water level of 294.34m, 0.66m lower than the normal water level; water inflow to the lake 211m3/s, not yet discharged.

Ban Chat Lake is at 434.5m, lower than the normal water level 40.5m, inflow to the lake 39m3/s. Huoi Quang Lake reached 369.53m, lower than the normal water level 0.47m, inflow to 28m3/s.

Son La Lake recorded a water level of 204.82m, lower than the normal water level by 10.18m. The water flow to the lake reached 82m3/s, the total discharge through the plant was very large at 1,905m3/s.

Hoa Binh Lake is at 108.07m, lower than the normal water level by 8.93m; water inflow to the lake reaches 1.751m3/s, total discharge through the plant is 2. 275m3/s. Thac Ba Lake reaches a water level of 51.69m, water inflow to the lake is 87m3/s and discharge through the plant is 142.35m3/s.

In the North Central region, Trung Son Lake has a water level of 157.38m, inflow to the lake 52m3/s, total discharge volume 219m3/s. Ban Ve Lake reached 184.4m, inflow to 67m3/s and has not been discharged. Khe Bo Lake recorded a water level of 64.43m, inflow to the lake 4.5m3/s, total discharge volume 171.2m3/s. Quang Tri Lake is at 470.88m, inflow to the lake is small, has not been discharged.

The South Central region has low water flow to the reservoir. A Vuong Lake reached a water level of 367.86m, total discharge volume of 28.3m3/s. Song Bung 2 and Song Tranh 2 reservoirs have not yet discharged. Song Bung 4 reservoir discharges 75m3/s through the plant. Song Ba Ha reservoir maintains discharge of 120m3/s. Song Hinh reservoir discharges 17.89m3/s even though the flow to the reservoir is negative due to regulation.

In the Central Highlands, many reservoirs operate electricity generation with small discharge flows. Thuong Kon Tum reservoir discharges 26.52m3/s; Pleyrong discharges 121m3/s. Ialy reservoir has not discharged even though the flow reached 150m3/s. An Khe reservoir discharges 8m3/s through a spillway with 1 open spillway. Srepok 3 reservoir discharges 0.78m3/s through a spillway with 2 deep spillways. Buon Kuop reservoir discharges 15.79m3/s through a spillway. Dong Nai 3, Dong Nai 4, and Dai Ninh reservoirs have not yet discharged.

In the Southeast region, Tri An Lake has a water level of 57.83m, water inflow to the lake is 80m3/s and the total discharge through the plant reaches 235m3/s.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 6, in the Central Central region, the weather will be similar when showers and scattered thunderstorms appear in the late afternoon and night, sunny during the day. Especially in the late afternoon and evening of May 4, this area is likely to experience showers and thunderstorms on a wider area, with locally heavy rain.

In other areas, showers and thunderstorms mainly appear in the late afternoon and night, while during the day it is sunny. Notably, the Central Highlands and Southern regions in the late afternoon and evening may experience scattered showers and thunderstorms.

During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of extreme weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
