According to reservoir operation data, at 2:00 PM on July 17, at Hoa Binh reservoir, the upstream water level reached 103.53 m, 13.47 m lower than the normal water level (117 m). The water flow to the reservoir reached 5,172 m3/s, the total discharge flow was 4,307 m3/s, of which 1,539 m3/s through the spillway and 2,768 m3/s through the plant. The reservoir is maintaining 1 deep discharge gate, not opening the surface discharge gate.
Son La Lake has a water level of 197.03 m, 17.97 m lower than the normal water level. Water flow to the lake reached 5,780 m3/s, total discharge volume 3,358 m3/s, all through the plant.
At Lai Chau reservoir, the water level reached 280.96 m, 14.04 m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to the reservoir is 1,774 m3/s, the total discharge is 1,617 m3/s, all through the plant.
Huo Huoi Quang Lake is close to reaching the normal water level when recording 369.99 m, only 0.01 m lower. The lake discharges 788 m3/s, including 451 m3/s through the spillway and 337 m3/s through the plant, operating 2 surface discharge gates.
Meanwhile, Ban Chat reservoir has a water level of 464.88 m, 10.12 m lower than the normal water level. The inflow to the reservoir reached 2,988 m3/s and has not been discharged.
In the Northeast area, Tuyen Quang reservoir recorded a water level of 103.72 m, 16.28 m lower than the normal water level. Water flow to the reservoir reached 604 m3/s, total discharge volume 746.8 m3/s, all through the plant.
Thac Ba Lake has a water level of 52.1 m, 5.9 m lower than the normal water level. Water flow to the lake is 290 m3/s, total discharge is 297.68 m3/s, all through the plant.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on July 17, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; other places in the Northern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
The Central region will be sunny during the day, with hot sun in some places with the highest temperature around 33 - 36 degrees C, and above 36 degrees C in some places.
The Southern region has showers and thunderstorms in some places; especially in the afternoon and evening there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places.
