On April 3, the People's Committee of Thuan Duc commune (Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province) said that a drowning incident had just occurred in the area, causing a 9th grade student to go missing.
The victim was Truong T.A (born in 2010, residing in Thuan Hoa village), a student at Thuan Duc Primary and Secondary School.
At about 4:15 p.m. the same day, T.A went fishing with two friends in the downstream area of the main spillway of Phu Vinh Lake.
After a while fishing, T.A suddenly jumped into the spillway to swim. Seeing that their friend was in danger, the two people who were traveling together immediately jumped down to save him but could not lift him up, then shouted for help from the people.
Due to the deep water spillway area, the search was difficult.
The authorities are coordinating with local authorities and the family to actively search for the victim.
