On March 28, information from the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the functional forces of the unit are trying to search for the whereabouts of the two children who went missing while swimming in the Ma River.

Upon receiving the report, that same night, the rescue forces of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police were present at the scene, coordinating with local authorities and people to deploy search plans.
At the scene, the authorities discovered bicycles, clothes, and sandals of the victims on the riverbank.
Due to the darkness, deep water levels, and wide riverbeds, the search was difficult.
As of 8:00 a.m. on March 28, the authorities were still urgently searching.
