Clean energy becomes a sustainable source of income
Bac Lieu is the province that is early to attract investment in wind power projects. In 2024 alone, the total electricity consumption of the whole province is more than 1,316 million kWh and the total electricity output of all sources
The clean energy that the province has emitted to the grid is more than 1,436.2 million kWh. Clean energy, renewable energy (wind power, solar power) and electricity are identified as one of the five pillars of socio-economic development of the province.
To date, the province has 1,612 rooftop solar power systems, 8 wind power plants in commercial operation with total tax revenue in 3 years (2022 - 2024) of nearly 481 billion VND; 2 wind power projects under construction and 1 LNG power project preparing for investment.
Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu said that in the coming time, the province will continue to invest in upgrading the electric grid infrastructure, removing difficulties for investors, speeding up the energy projects. The province also proposed the Government to promulgate the Decree on investment guarantee mechanism and electricity selling price for wind power projects; Proposing Vietnam Electricity Group and relevant agencies to soon evaluate, approve and allocate capital for the project of 500KV Bac Lieu - Thot Not, effectively transmitting electricity.
Need to take strong measures to unblock clean power sources
In addition to the results achieved in the implementation of Resolution 55, Bac Lieu province still has many difficulties and problems such as: Power transmission infrastructure is not yet synchronous, so there are times when the transmission capacity of some wind power plants and rooftop solar power systems must be cut; some power projects
behind schedule, affecting socio-economic development; site clearance for construction of power projects and power transmission lines is still slow...
In order to continue implementing well the Politburo's Resolution 55, from now to 2030 and vision to 2045, Bac Lieu province will perform well the maintenance, renovation, upgrade of the grid, take advantage of the capital of the electricity industry to be allocated to invest in the development of the grid; promptly support the removal of difficulties for investors, in order to urgently deploy electricity projects to ensure progress according to the decision to approve the investment policy of the province. At the same time, it is recommended that the Government soon promulgate the Decree on the State's security to implement investment projects and sell electricity prices of wind power projects.
Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee Secretary Lu Van Hung proposed to handle and solve difficulties and obstacles in the site clearance for construction of electricity works; support and accompany investors of LNG gas power plant project in handling problems; directing specialized agencies to monitor and urge investors to urgently implement electricity projects according to progress, in accordance with the decision to approve investment policies. At the same time, updating and studying the provisions of the law and the guiding documents of the ministries, branches, the Government, the Prime Minister, promptly advising the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to organize the effective implementation of the provincial planning, especially in the field of energy.
To do this, the Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee proposed to promote administrative reform, attract selective investment, encourage the private economy to participate in energy development, apply science and technology, digital transformation and environmental protection in the energy sector. The Provincial People's Committee will provide maximum support to investors in licensing, site clearance and investment procedures to speed up the progress of energy projects.
