On April 30, 1975, with the cunning, courage and flexibility, the Command of the General Offensive of Bac Lieu province combined creatively between political and military struggle and the armed forces approaching the provincial town to create military pressure; At the same time, organizing psychological and persuasive struggle, mobilizing, the puppet government abandoned the intention of death, let go of the gun surrender, "handing over the government" unconditionally for the revolution, without having to shed blood.
That victory not only showed the cunning, courage and creativity of Bac Lieu army and people but also showed the humanitarian tradition, tolerance of the nation and the moral and civilized nature of our Party when the historical conditions allow; At the same time, it has made an important contribution to the overall victory of the whole nation, completely liberating the South and unifying the Fatherland.
Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu said that in order to win glory, we have also suffered a lot of pain and loss; How many cadres, soldiers and compatriots have fallen, tens of thousands of people arrested, imprisoned, suffered from many wounds on the body. That noble sacrifice of comrades, the more people nurtured the glorious tradition and more than the heroic history of our nation. The Party Committee, the troops and the people of Bac Lieu respectfully grateful to the blood sacrifices of more than 12,000 heroic martyrs, 6,000 wounded soldiers, the silent feats of 1,600 Vietnamese heroic mothers and nearly 60,000 people with meritorious services to the country. That noble sacrifice has added a heroic history of the homeland of Bac Lieu, a land rich in patriotic and revolutionary tradition.
Developing with the whole country
After the unification day, from a land with many difficulties, Bac Lieu has gradually risen, achieving proud achievements in many fields. The province's economy has grown steadily, culture and society have made many improvements, the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved, national defense and security have been maintained.
After 50 years of implementing the renovation policy, Bac Lieu province has transferred itself to the development of the country and the world. The total GRDP product per capita is estimated at 70.66 million VND/person/year; The total social investment capital is over 31,700 billion dong; Export turnover reached US $ 1.18 billion in 2024; The life of the people is improved clearly; The work of taking care of policy families, poverty reduction achieved impressive results, the rate of poor households decreased to less than 1%. Socio -economic infrastructure is interested in investment; 100% of communes completed new rural areas by 2020; 42.9% of communes meet new rural standards; The network of classrooms is spacious, meeting the learning needs of the people; The health system is strengthened, developed, and the quality of medical examination and treatment has been raised; Political security and social order and safety are maintained.
Party building work and political system have been strengthened; The team of mature cadres in many aspects, discipline, discipline, manners, working style, sense of responsibility for the work are raised, meeting the task requirements.
