On May 6, present in village 1, Huong Do commune, Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh province), a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper recorded an ancient Troi tree right next to the garden fence of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang's family (61 years old, residing in village 1).
According to observations, this Troi tree has a base size of about 3 people and is not mushy, the trunk is about 40m high, the canopy is about 30m wide.

The impressive thing about this ancient tree is that many large branches are spreading out very evenly, balanced in all directions. Perhaps that is also the factor that helps the tree stand firm for hundreds of years despite the harsh storms in the Central region, which are overwhelming and devastating.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang said that although this ancient Troi tree is in his garden and owned by his family, he thought that this was a treasure tree of the village, carrying the soul of the village, so he did not dare to think about selling this tree.
"I have to get dialysis, my family's finances are very difficult. However, many people came to ask to buy this Troi tree for billions of dong, but I did not sell it. Not only have I decided not to sell it for generations, but I have also told my children and grandchildren that no one is allowed to sell this precious tree, Mr. Thang shared.

According to Mr. Thang, he heard that since his ancestors were young, he had seen this Troi tree as a giant tree that could not be held. Therefore, he thought that this ancient tree could have existed for hundreds of years, or even thousands of years.
Mr. Thang compared that in Huong Vinh commune (Huong Khe district), there is also an ancient Troi tree that is said to be 800 years old but lower than the Troi tree of his family.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - Chairman of Huong Do Commune People's Committee - shared that in village 1, Huong Do Commune, there is an ancient Troi tree, estimated to be hundreds of years old, growing in Mr. Thang's family garden.
According to Mr. Son, that ancient Troi tree is located close to the road, spreading shade over a large area, bringing a very impressive highlight to a countryside on the alluvial plains of the Ngan Sau river.
The Chairman of Huong Do Commune People's Committee added that the Troi tree in this locality is not yet a heritage tree. Meanwhile, in Huong Vinh commune, there is a similar ancient Troi tree that has been recognized as a heritage tree.
Therefore, in the future, the proposal to recognize the heritage tree for the Troi tree in Huong Do commune may be considered by the locality if there is a proposal and consensus from Mr. Thang's family.
