A beach ranking organization based in the US has just announced the annual Global Beach Handbook "Corona Beach 100 2026".
Accordingly, the beach in Vietnam on the list is Soi Sim beach located in the core area of Ha Long Bay, with an area of about 8.7 hectares, about 12 km from Tuan Chau tourist port (Ha Long).
Soi Sim beach is located on Soi Sim island, a beautiful land island located in the middle of Ha Long Bay. The island is named Soi Sim by local fishermen because the island is filled with sim flowers. In May and June, sim flowers bloom profusely, purple on the hillsides on the island.
According to fishermen in Ha Long Bay, in the past, while waiting to pull nets at dawn, fishermen went to the island and used lights to find sim fruits. The name "Soi Sim" island probably originated from here.
Not only famous for its sim forest, the island also has a primeval forest with many rich plants and animals with more than 78 plant species and 32 animal species, including many endemic plant species of Ha Long Bay, such as: Phất dụ núi, Bông mộc, Hài vệ nữ hoa vàng...
Soi Sim beach is 1 of 2 beaches licensed to operate in Ha Long Bay. However, Soi Sim beach has not yet welcomed guests because the entire island has been handed over to a private business for business and is facing many procedures.
