On the morning of September 24, according to the announcement of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province, as of today, the recent floods have caused great damage to people and property in many localities.
Three people died and one person was injured due to floods.
The flood has buried and completely collapsed 9 houses (Ky Son district: 2 houses, Tuong Duong: 6 houses, Que Phong: 1 house); caused severe damage to 11 houses (Tuong Duong district: 9 houses, Ky Son: 2 houses), damaged 75 houses (Ky Son district: 3 houses, Tuong Duong: 72 houses).
Localities have organized emergency evacuation of 68 households due to the risk of landslides (Ky Son district: 13 households, Con Cuong district: 55 households), moved furniture of 92 households, and evacuated 36 households in Tuong Duong district due to the risk of landslides.
The whole province was flooded with 274 households (Anh Son: 105 households, Hung Nguyen: 169 households); 9 hamlets and villages were isolated (Tuong Duong district: 3 villages, Hung Nguyen: 6 hamlets); 20 households affected by landslides (Que Phong district: 19; Quynh Luu district: 1).
537.90 hectares of rice, 3,305.59 hectares of crops were damaged, 1,108.47 hectares of annual crops were damaged... 14,803 poultry and 70 livestock died.
The whole province has more than 21,228m3 of landslides, damaging and blocking many roads; 30 bridges are damaged and collapsed.
The irrigation system was severely damaged, with 1,121m of canals eroded and damaged; 8 lakes and spillways eroded and damaged; the Ke Thap dike, section through block 2, Hung Nguyen town, Hung Nguyen district, subsided, with cracks along the surface and body of the dike at 03 locations, with a total length of about 250m; the main North canal bank through Nam Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district subsided; the dike to prevent saltwater intrusion in Quynh Ngoc commune, Quynh Luu district collapsed 45m.
The dike system of Hung Dao and Hung Nguyen communes (Lam Tra canal) was flooded 800m and is currently being reinforced by the locality.
On the morning of September 23, heavy rain caused localized flooding on many roads in Vinh City, causing many vehicles to stall, traffic jams, and many schools to close.
Before, during and after the floods, localities have made efforts to mobilize forces to prevent and overcome consequences, support households in evacuating and banning dangerous traffic routes.
